Linden's cinnamon buns

So this afternoon, I made the legendary cinnamon buns for my buddies Chris Tina and Jeff, but they didn't turn out so well. I blame the oven, which I am still figuring out. When I took them out of the oven I was optimistic, because they looked nicely done (and evenly cooked laterally, which I was worried about, because our oven is terrible at distributing heat):

And then I flipped it over (as you are supposed to do) and the bottom hadn't cooked, and the butter was going everywhere and hadn't caramelized and it was terrible. So I put it back in for a few minutes, and then Jeff had a brilliant idea to flip it and put it in close to the coils for a few minutes, so we did that and it was somewhat salvaged. This is what it looked like in the end. The pecans caramelized sort of, and it got properly crispy, but it was still a bit of a mess. As I had predicted, however, there is enough butter in this to give a small African village a collective heart attack, so it tasted delicious in spite of my mistakes.

Unfortunately, they were too impatient to let me take photos. You can see the hungry shadows looming in this picture.
